Check out this How to Do School doc, which you can copy and save for your use later. It has many tips and policies that will be useful in my courses as well as in other courses in high school and beyond.

Also see my policies on submitting work online and eating in class, and a bit about me and the best time to find me for help with anything.

Philosophy  (HZT 4UI)

Picture
Debate with the teacher and other students to figure out what we can actually know, how to be happy and/or good, and how to live together.  Think about what you really think!  Better define your own outlook on life by learning all about Plato and the boys. Well, mainly boys.  This is a rigorous academic course that will develop strong essay-writing skills for university.  See more about philosophy in general here and more about the course here.
ENG 3UI is a necessary prerequisite unless you had 80s or 90s in ENG 2DI!
(HZB 3MI is NOT a pre-requisite, but it's a lot of fun and could be helpful.)

Challenge and Change in Society  (HSB 4UI)

Picture
This is world issues with a social science lens.  Apply theories of anthropology, psychology, and sociology to real world global events.  See how cultural studies and conformity experiments relate to the invasion of countries and social groups.  Study human dynamics involved in war, bullying, and deciding who does dishes.  Look at theories of persuasion and corporate coercion.  We all know power corrupts; join us to find out why.
(HSP 3UI is NOT a pre-requisite, but it might be useful.)

Then we'll look at creating treatments and storyboarding films - establishing plot, character, conflict, and resolution. Throughout, we'll discuss the history of film and have an eye out for recognizing how directorial choices affect film quality of some of the films we watch. (30B for workplace, 30Y for college level, and 30X for university level).
